Unit Overview/Summary - FOCUS: 

This unit focuses on operations and algebraic thinking. Measurement and data is also addressed while numbers and operations in base ten serve as support for the unit. Fluency with addition and subtraction within 20 is expected in grade 1 and should be attended to during this unit. Learning in this unit will enable students to: 

• Represent and solve problems involving addition and subtraction; 
• Understand and apply properties of operations and the relationship between addition and subtraction; 
• Add and subtract within twenty; 
• Work with addition and subtraction equations; and 
• Represent and interpret data.
