The 306: African-American History digital course brings to life a number of the important leaders and events whose impact changed the fabric of American life. The course covers four key eras and allows students to take control of their journey as they travel at their own pace.
This course uses counter storytelling to help students to understand the history of events that have shaped American history by highlighting Black professionals who have blazed trails and made significant contributions to their fields.
ELLs make up nearly 20 percent of the school population. They come with unique needs and varying literacy skill levels. Project-based learning (PBL) can be an excellent tool to facilitate deep learning in those for whom new language acquisition is an added challenge.
The standard citation style guide book for the fields of business, education, health science, public service, and social science is the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 6th edition, 2010. The American Psychological Association (APA) publishes the manual. We commonly refer to it as "the APA Manual".
The business, education, health science, public service, and social science departments at IRSC recommend APA format for papers written in these fields.
Two types of citations are included in most research papers: citations within the text of the document and a list of reference citations at the end of the paper.
In-Text Citations:
The APA Manual uses the author-date citation system for in-text citations.
Reference Citations:
The sources you use in your work are included as a separate list at the end of the paper. The APA Manual suggests using the title, References, for the list.

Textbook for Adolescent Psychology course
VCCS's "Pathways" Course provides faculty with an introduction to the laws that influence the use, re-use, and distribution of content they may want to use in a course. Activities include finding openly licensed content for use in a class and publishing openly licensed works created by faculty. At the end of the course, students will have openly licensed content that will be ready for use in a course.
As faculty, you assess textbooks against a set of criteria that reflects your long experience and knowledge of student needs. You do the same with Open Textbooks, but there are a few additional considerations.
The second edition is an updated and expanded version of the original adoption guide. The first sections address three distinct groups involved in open textbook adoption: instructors, post-secondary institutions, and students. The second--most comprehensive--section focuses on the operational aspects of adoption: surveying instructors about, tracking usage of, and reporting out about open textbooks (and other OER). The last "Learn More" part provides additional adoption information.

Urban nature is discussed and explored in this set of course material offered online as part of the MIT OpenCourseWare initiative. The course was originally taught by Professor Anne Whiston Spirn in fall 2012 and, as the site notes, explores ̢ĺŰĺĎthe mutual influences of ideas of nature, theories of city design and planning.̢ĺŰĺ On the site visitors can read over the syllabus to check out the list of readings as well as the assignments. Some of the readings are available as free downloads and there really are some great works here. The Assignments are sure to pique the curiosity of those with a penchant for urban affairs and the truly adventurous may complete them on their own.

In this unit, students learn about the form and function of the human heart through lecture, research and dissection. Following the steps of the Legacy Cycle, students brainstorm, research, design and present viable solutions to various heart conditions as presented through a unit challenge. Additionally, students study how heart valves work and investigate how faulty valves can be replaced with new ones through advancements in engineering and technology.
