Earth Day takes place this year on Monday, April 22. Below are some Defined Learning tasks that align well with Earth Day.

Food Services Director: School Composting (Grades K-2)- In this task students will learn about the importance of composting and how they can help Earth. Students will take on the role of a food services director and teach everyone at school how to compost.

Earth Scientist: Alternative Energy (Grades 3-5)- As an Earth scientist, you study geothermal energy and how it is an alternative energy source that is more environmentally friendly than fossil fuels. You will share information about the benefits of using geothermal energy with the national leaders of an island community.

Rain Barrel Manufacturer (Grades 6-8)- Students will create a detailed scale drawing to match the volume of their rain barrel design and will create a net and calculate surface area for their rain barrel design.

Engineering Geologist (Grades 9-12)- The Engineering Geologist task provides students with the opportunity to understand surface processes and different feedbacks that cause changes on Earth's systems
