STEM & CS Pilot Cohort Follow-up

by Page Riley 10 months, 2 weeks ago

As we prepare for our follow-up meeting on October 19th, we'd like to ensure we're addressing your needs effectively. Please share:

  1. Any lingering questions about Defined Learning.
  2. How we can assist with implementation.
  3. Any additional support you need from the Defined Learning team or your colleagues.

Your input will help us make the most of our upcoming discussion.

Hi

We are using part of a lesson on Forensics - to support something we have already designed for PBL.

My lingering question relates to the sustainability of Defined Learning access for schools in CT? I would want to know how much I encourage educators to use this resource, if it is not going to be around in 24-25?

Thanks

Anne

Hi Anne,

I would use Defined Learning as much as you can. Once, you do the tasks with your students, you will have the knowledge to continue them with or without the platform in the future.

The more we use the platform, the more we can build the case on the importance of the platform for future years in the state of CT.

We are struggling to get students actually signed into the digital platform. We started with Google sign in and added it to our ClassLink Page. Students weren't able to get in. We then created individual accounts for students and then we couldn't assign the activity, they weren't showing up in our class, even though they could now log in.

Also, questions about where to find the starting "careers quiz" in Define Careers.

I am not sure which of the two times I will be able to make, as I am attending MassCUE conference on Thursday. Thanks

Hi Erin,

Thank you for your feedback.  Did you roster your students through Google Classroom? If you are still having issues with student accounts, I would recommend to reach out to Carlie Brandt, CT implementation specialist: carlie_brandt@definedlearning.com

I might have already answered your question about the Defined Careers quiz when I presented at your school on Tuesday but just in case, you can go into your Demo Class in Defined Careers (which is basically a sandbox for you to take the assessment as a student and view as a student).  From there, you will see the careers asssessment.  I hope that helps.

1.  I do not yet have any lingering questions about Defined Learning.

2.   It would be great to be able to edit the check-in questions after assigning the tasks.  Is there a way to do this?  It would be great if there was a training for administrators and/or math coaches, specialisits, etc. to get them up to speed on Defined learning.

3.  I do not need anything at this time.

Hi Alissa,

You cannot edit the check-in questions but you can delete what you do not like and create your own check-in question. Here is a screen shot of how to do that.

As far as training, there are some excellent resources in the Knowledge Base section of Defined such as videos, instructional support, and implementation strategies.  I would recommend reachng out to Carlie Brandt, the CT Implementation Specialist, about training: carlie_brandt@definedlearning.com
